Wisconsin: Former Presbyterian church becomes mosque

Not new but worth noting, from a reader. Source: East Side mosque purchases former Presbyterian church | Local News |

An East Side mosque has purchased a former Presbyterian church near East Towne Mall and plans to make the location its permanent home.

The Islamic Center of East Madison, which ran into opposition three years ago when it tried to buy property in Sun Prairie, closed June 26 on the former Parkside Presbyterian Church, 4002 Lien Road, according to church and mosque officials. Neither side disclosed the purchase price.

“We were able to close approximately two days before Ramadan (Islam’s holy month), which I think will be a fine thing for that congregation,” said the Rev. David Butler, a retired Presbyterian minister from Montello who assisted the church in selling the property. “We are praying that God will prosper their work there.”

The Parkside congregation voted earlier this year to disband after nearly 100 years because of declining membership. It held its last service June 2.

The new site for the mosque is just off East Washington Avenue, across Lien Road from Laredo’s Mexican Restaurante. The building was constructed in 1959.

The Islamic Center of East Madison, one of three mosques in the city, currently is located in leased commercial space at 2713 E. Washington Ave., just down the street from the Hawthorne Branch of the Madison Public Library.

There are several mega mosques in the Madison, Wisconsin area and all are looking to expand further. Where are all the Muslims coming from? And why to Wisconsin?

Another Wisconsin mosque teaches its congregants that the false notion that Muslims founded, and presumably conquered, America before Columbus. The implication is that America is Muslim land and should forever be so.

More proof that Liberalism is a Mental Disease. Pure Insanity. Aiding in your own destruction. This is happening in every Western Country that is letting in large amounts of people from Muslim countries.

In Revelation there is a warning to the church in Ephesus: “. . . you do not love me now as you did at first. Think how far you have fallen! Turn from your sins and do what you did at first. If you don’t turn from your sins, I will come to you and take the lampstand from its place.” (Rev. 2:4-5) Churches lose membership because they have abandoned the teachings of the Bible and have allowed godless people to slip in unnoticed among the congregation (Jude 4). It would be better to burn the church down than to sell it to anti-Christian Muslims.

New Jersey: Seattle Muslim accused of terrorism standing trial in 1 of 4 jihad killings

Despite the confession, the media continue to ignore these jihad killings in the U.S. Source: Seattle man accused of terrorism in New Jersey standing trial in 1 of 4 killings | The Seattle Times

NEWARK, N.J.  — Jurors were being selected Wednesday to hear the terrorism trial of a Seattle man accused of killing four people in two states in revenge for U.S. policy in the Middle East.

Ali Muhammad Brown, 33, is the first person in New Jersey to be charged with terrorism connected to a homicide case, prosecutors said.

Brown was charged with fatally shooting 19-year-old college
student Brendan Tevlin of Livingston, New Jersey, at a traffic light in nearby West Orange in 2014. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges in the case.

Tevlin’s father, Mike Tevlin, has said his son had not settled on a college major when he was killed.

“He was a great kid who was just coming home, and he didn’t deserve to die like that,” Mike Tevlin said in 2016.

Brown is also awaiting trial in three killings in the Seattle area from earlier in the same year. Prosecutors said Brown shot a man late at night outside Seattle in April 2014 and then killed two men after they left a Seattle nightclub in June.

Prosecutors have said Brown characterized himself as a strict Muslim who became angry with the deaths of civilians and children during U.S. involvement in Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan.

“The defendant was on a bloody crusade, executing four innocent men … with the same murder weapon, over the course of approximately two months, and all under the common and single scheme of exacting ‘vengeance’ against the United States government for its foreign policies,” prosecutors in King County wrote in court filings.

Brown already is serving a 36-year prison sentence in New Jersey for his conviction on robbery and other charges. He is expected to be taken back to Washington following his trial in New Jersey.

In the King County cases, Brown is accused of killing Leroy Henderson in Skyway, and Ahmed Said and Dwone Anderson-Young in Seattle in 2014. Brown is believed to have fled to New Jersey days after the latter two shootings.

Brown is charged with three counts of aggravated first-degree murder in King County.

King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg announced in December 2016 that he would not seek the death penalty against Brown.

Brown is charged with fatally shooting Henderson shortly after 11:45 p.m. April 27, 2014, as Henderson was walking home from a Skyway store. King County sheriff’s deputies linked Brown to the slaying through the 9-mm bullets and casings found in and around Henderson’s body.

Ahmed Said was driving Anderson-Young home from R Place, a gay club on Capitol Hill, on June 1, 2014, when they were shot. Brown had reportedly met up with Said over a gay social-networking app, then connected with the two men outside the club that night and got into Said’s car, according to charges.

“The murders took place less than 17 minutes after two witnesses saw Ali Brown leave with the victims in Said’s car. There is no evidence to suggest that Said and/or Anderson-Young were armed, and these murders do not appear to be motivated by robbery, drugs or any other crime,” a Seattle police detective wrote in investigative documents.

Brown was arrested in New Jersey in July 2014.

Maryland: Muslim Was Looking to Bomb Federal Buildings in Baltimore

Source: Md. Man Who Pleaded Guilty To Supporting ISIS Additional Charge « CBS Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A Maryland man who pleaded guilty to supporting ISIS is now one step closer to learning his punishment.

Mohamed Elshinawy pleaded guilty to charges of supporting ISIS and making false statements back in August 2017.

Federal prosecutors say Elshinawy was also looking to target federal buildings in Baltimore.

It’s one of several new details revealed in the sentencing phase for Elshinawy.

On Monday, federal prosecutors focused on seven statements made by Elshinawy that prove he was working with ISIS and had bigger plans in the works.

Federal prosecutors argued that Elshinawy was in fact a terrorist who had plans to carry out attacks here in the U.S.

According to prosecutors, Elshinawy was given the option by the terrorist group to either assassinate a Texas businessman, or plan an attack here in the U.S., where he would place a bomb that would “kill a lot of people.”

Prosecutors say Elshinawy received bomb making videos from the group, including how to build a peroxide bomb.

Elshinawy was also researching federal buildings in Baltimore, prosecutors said during the hearing Monday.

The statements were made as part of an agreement with Elshinawy, in which he would provide details that couldn’t be used against him.

But prosecutors now argue Elshinawy broke the agreement.

There are now seven statements they’re focused on as they try to get a terrorist enhancement added to the charges.

Lawyers for Elshinawy argued that the statements do not violate the agreement.

While lawyers admit Elshinawy was contacted by ISIS with the options, they say he never carried out any of the attacks, and there was never any evidence that a specific plan was ever in the works.

Both sides will be back in court Friday to argue if the terrorist enhancement will be added to the charges.

Formal sentencing in the case is tentatively set for March 9.
