‘Terrifying, traumatic’: Crabby crows dive-bombing pedestrians in Vancouver, B.C.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Cantankerous crows are dive bombing unwary pedestrians in Metro Vancouver as the annual example of avian helicopter parenting hits its height.

Jim O’Leary, an instructor at Langara College in Vancouver, has been tracking crow-human interactions using an online map as part of his work with the college’s geographic information systems program and says the assaults are increasing.

Between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, O’Leary says 68 people added their reports of crow confrontations to the interactive online map he and a colleague created in 2016.

He says June figures are higher than usual, possibly because March and April were cool and wet, delaying nesting and the crows’ territorial feints, flutters and outright airborne assaults that come with it.

O’Leary says the soaring number of reports this week suggests eggs have hatched and some of the chicks may even be fledging from the nest, making parents especially aggressive because their young can’t fly yet and are helpless on the ground for a day or two.

Wearing a hat or using an umbrella can fend off some swoops but O’Leary says the map shows avoiding blocks with tall thick trees, where nests are likely to be hidden, or staying clear of trouble spots in the West End or downtown areas are also good ideas.

Those areas have the greatest number of reported confrontations, in part because the busy neighborhoods are full of food sources like garbage cans or grub dropped on restaurant patios.

The attacks can be terrifying, O’Leary says, because reports on his site reveal they come from behind, without warning.

“I have had reports where people said, ‘My neck was sore for two weeks because the crow slammed into the side of my head,'” O’Leary says.

“They sometimes will smack the person on the back of the head and if your hair is long, they can get stuck in the hair and you can imagine how traumatic that is, both for you and the bird.”

Comments on the site have given O’Leary some perspective about the dangers facing crows, including one observation describing a raccoon climbing a tree to clean out a nest.

“They are just protecting their young and they don’t realize that you, as a human, have no interest in climbing the tree and eating the eggs,” he says.

Comment:

These Birds are harmless just protecting their young.  This author has been feeding these birds for years and never once had a problem with nesting couples in our trees..

Try a Carrot rather then a stick  – next time when you go our for walks?  Just carry some bread, french fries, and or a meat sandwich and offer them some?  They’ll like that and will in future leave you alone.

They makes friends very easy and in most cases, other then nesting season, don’t bother anyone…….   End note ;

Welcome to Germany – Angry German man Tired of hearing Islamic Call to Prayer Over Loudspeaker every morning!!

Multiculturalism has failed in Europe. Local angry resident posted this video on social networks in protest against the Islamic Call to Prayer Over Loudspeaker In his own town.
Most people are unaware of the consequences of the illegal mass immigration into Europe that lead to the changing face of Europe.
The British have become a minority in their Own capital city.
In Sweden the situation is even worse, Swedish majority will live long enough to see themselves becoming a minority in their own country.
But there are Western countries that do not even acknowledge that there is a lack of integration within the immigrant communities.
The Western world must close the borders before it is too late.

Have you ever wondered why there are no terrorist attacks in Poland, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary?
When an immigration crisis broke out in Europe, these countries immediately closed their borders with security fences and walls to completely stop the mass illegal immigration.

Hungary announced that it would not accept Muslim immigrants to preserve the “Christian” culture and identity of Hungary.
Slovakia declared that it would accept only Christian refugees on the grounds that the state had no mosques.
Austria Poland and Czech Republic did the same thing.

EU members Poland and Hungary didn’t accept one refugee according to the legally binding agreement they made in 2015 to take in 160,000 refugees across the bloc.
The Czech Republic only took in 12 refugees since 2016.

The EU threatensPoland, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary With
But look what happened to countries that have opened their borders and have received hundreds of thousands of immigrants and refugees.economic sanctions for not accepting Muslim refugees.
Here are only few examples:

3 June 2017 – London: Eight people were killed when three Muslim terrorists drove a van into pedestrians on London Bridge.

22 May 2017 – Manchester: Suicide bomber Salman Abedi detonated a bomb at Manchester Arena as fans were leaving an Ariana Grande concert, killing himself and 22 others.

7 April 2017 – Stockholm: Muslim terrorist drove stolen truck into a crowd in the Swedish capital, killing four people and wounding 15 others.

19 December 2016 – Berlin: Muslim terrorist drove a truck into a crowded Christmas market in central Berlin, killing 12 people and injuring 56 others.

Hundreds of innocent people have been killed in terrorist attacks in France, Germany, Britain, Finland and even Sweden.
After Millions of illegal immigrants and refugees have infiltrated into Europe thanks to the EU’s open borders policy.

The European Union should adopt the immigration policy of the Eastern European countries.
It’s time for the Western world to wake up!

BREAKING: Supreme Court sides with Christian baker who refused to do gay ‘wedding’ cake

WASHINGTON, D.C., June 4, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – In a major religious liberty victory, the United States Supreme Court has ruled 7-2 that the government may not force Christian business owners to participate in same-sex “weddings.”

The Court determined the Christian business owner in question, Jack Phillips of Masterpiece Cakeshop, did not get fair hearing with the Colorado Civil Rights Commission after he declined to make a cake for a gay “wedding.”

Pro-family and pro-LGBT advocates were closely watching the case, Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission, as it will have enormous ramifications for the implementation of same-sex “marriage” in the U.S. three years after the Court imposed it on the country.

The Court determined Phillips’ unfair hearing violated the Constitution’s “Free Exercise” of religion clause. The seven justices all essentially agreed that the Civil Rights Commission hadn’t treated Phillips’ Christian faith with neutrality.

In a major surprise, Justice Anthony Kennedy, known for his sympathy to the LGBT cause, authored the main opinion, to which Justices Roberts, Breyer, Alito, Kagan, and Gorsuch joined. Justices Kagan and Breyer wrote their own opinions as well. Justices Gorsuch and Alito wrote an opinion together. Justice Thomas, joined by Justice Gorsuch, wrote an opinion of his own.

The only two to dissent were Justices Sotomayor and Ginsburg.

“The free speech aspect of this case is difficult, for few persons who have seen a beautiful wedding cake might have thought of its creation as an exercise of protected speech,” the Court wrote in its majority opinion. “This is an instructive example, however, of the proposition that the application of constitutional freedoms in new contexts can deepen our understanding of their meaning.”

“Whatever the confluence of speech and free exercise principles might be in some cases, the Colorado Civil Rights Commission’s consideration of this case was inconsistent with the State’s obligation of religious neutrality,” the Court continued. “The reason and motive for the baker’s refusal were based on his sincere religious beliefs and convictions… It is proper to hold that whatever the outcome of some future controversy involving facts similar to these, the Commission’s actions here violated the Free Exercise Clause; and its order must be set aside.”

“The Civil Rights Commission’s treatment of [Phillips’] case has some elements of a clear and impermissible hostility toward the sincere religious beliefs that motivated his objection” to baking the cake for the homosexual ceremony, Kennedy’s majority opinion states.

Ginsburg and Sotomayor wrote that they believe “a refusal to sell any wedding cake to a gay couple should occasion affirmance of the Colorado Court of Appeals’ judgment” against Christian bakers.

Kagan and Breyer’s opinion noted Colorado sided with bakers who refused to create a cake opposing gay “marriage,” but that the state wouldn’t side with bakers who refused to celebrate gay “marriage” with their work.

Justices Thomas argued in his concurring opinion that wedding cakes are expressive and therefore protected speech.

“The Court has said 7-2 that the Constitution requires us all to try and get along,” said Mark Rienzi, president of the pro-religious freedom law firm Becket. “There is room enough in our society for a diversity of viewpoints, and that includes respecting religious beliefs too. The decision is a strong message to governments across the country that they must respect—rather than punish—religious diversity on important issues.”

Battle over forced baking of gay cakes began in 2012

Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission stemmed from a 2012 incident in which a homosexual couple sought a wedding cake from Phillips’ Masterpiece Cakeshop in Lakewood, Colorado. Phillips declined, citing his religious convictions, and referred the couple to another area baker willing to bake their cake.

But instead of taking Phillips’ accomodation and moving on, Charlie Craig and David Mullins filed a discrimination complaint with the Colorado Civil Rights Division, which deemed him guilty of violating state anti-discrimination laws and ordered “re-education” for Phillips and his employees.

Phillips appealed the decision, lost before the Colorado Court of Appeals, and eventually convinced the nation’s highest court to hear the case. The pro-homosexual Human Rights Campaign marshalled numerous corporations and food-industry personalities to weigh in against him.

“I’m happy to sell a cake to anyone, whatever his or her sexual identity,” Phillips explained in a USA Today op-ed last December. However, cake design is inherently expressive, “a message telling all who see it that this event is a wedding and that it is an occasion for celebration.”

“What a cake celebrating this event would communicate was a message that contradicts my deepest religious convictions, and as an artist, that’s just not something I’m able to do, so I politely declined,” he declared. “But this wasn’t just a business decision. More than anything else, it was a reflection of my commitment to my faith.”

The Trump administration also intervened in the case, filing an amicus brief urging the court to side with Phillips.

“In the view of the United States, a […] First Amendment intrusion occurs where a public accommodations law compels someone to create expression for a particular person or entity and to participate, literally or figuratively, in a ceremony or other expressive event,” the brief argued.

Alliance Defending Freedom attorney Kristen Waggoner represented Phillips in oral arguments, noting that the court “has never compelled artistic expression, and doing so here would lead to less civility, diversity, and freedom for everyone, no matter their views on marriage.”

Observers noted at the time that left-wing Justices Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor predictably signaled their hostility to Phillips’ argument, while left-leaning swing vote Justice Anthony Kennedy sent mixed signals in his questioning.

Justices Kagan and Breyer wrote in their concurring opinion: “Colorado can treat a baker who discriminates based on sexual orientation differently from a baker who does not discriminate on that or any other prohibited ground. But only, as the Court rightly says, if the State’s decisions are not infected by religious hostility or bias.”

For months, rumors have persisted that Anthony Kennedy intends to retire before the end of the year. This would give the president an opportunity to appoint another Supreme Court Justice, theoretically establishing a clear conservative majority on the court.

The ruling will have a profound impact on religious liberty across the United States. Phillips is just one of many Christian small business owners, from bakers and florists to photographers and venue providers, whom LGBT activists have attempted to force to provide services for same-sex “weddings,” with varying degrees of success.

The tactic is part of LGBT activists’ broader strategy of pressuring dissenters into compliance rather than persuading them via arguments. But while the LGBT lobby has had great success in recent years enacting pro-homosexual laws and blocking religious liberty protections, there is some evidence that their cultural offensive is having an unintended drawback. In March, GLAAD found that America’s LGBT acceptance has actually begun to decrease, despite public support for same-sex “marriage” previously reaching historic heights.

WATCH VIDEO: Gang of Muslim migrant kids attack park goers in Lewiston, Maine

Echoes of Europe, and a glimpse into our future. This is more of the poison fruit of the reckless, feckless immigration policies that the Obama administration relentlessly pursued, bringing whole Somali Muslim communities into the U.S. and placing them in American communities that were ill-equipped to deal with the violence, tribalism, and ongoing gang warfare that is rapidly becoming a feature of all too many American cities. This is the America that the Democrats wanted, and still want. They don’t care about the welfare and safety of Americans; they only care about the votes that these migrant communities will deliver to them.

“Gang of Somali Kids Attack Park Goers in Lewiston,” Maine First Media, May 24, 2018:

It was an otherwise pleasant evening in Maine when two dozen Somali youth swarmed and attacked two local residents in Kennedy Park last Thursday evening.

The Somali mob attacked around 7:45 pm, just as the sun was setting on this historic city park in the heart of Maine’s second largest city.

A local mother recorded as a mob of teens and children, boys and girls as young as nine years old, brandishing wooden bats and other objects, along with fists, feet and sheer numbers to attack the two non-Somali defenders. At one point you can even here one of the hoodlums repeatedly daring the woman to, “stop me, b**ch.”

Lewiston Police tell Maine First Media one of the victims was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. However, no charges were filed.

Lewiston Mayor, Shane Bouchard says these types of incidents are common at Kennedy Park, but points to Lewiston’s low crime rate.

“Kennedy Park is a large common space in the middle of some of the poorest census tracts in the Northeast,” Mayor Bouchard said. “When you have large, diverse groups of people in the same place you are bound to have incidents. Lewiston is no different in that respect than any other medium to large city, except that Lewiston’s violent crime rate is one of the lowest in Maine.”

While the Mayor brings up Lewiston’s violent crime statistics, it is important to note, in this case, the victim didn’t press charges, meaning, statistically there was no crime. Incidents like this often go unreported and are not reflected in the numbers — something even Mayor Bouchard has to admit.

“In this particular case, the person who was attacked declined to press charges, therefore under the law, there was no victim, therefore no crime,” said Mayor Bouchard.

Witnesses at the park say the attack started when one of the victims asked one of the attackers to use a lighter for his cigarette. However, Lewiston Police are reviewing the video and have not determined an official motivation for this gang assault.

This is far from the first incident of Somalian attacks at Kennedy Park. Recently, a 10-year-old girl was jumped and beaten by a Somali girl at the park. As such occurrences become more common in Lewiston, many lifelong residents are now afraid to bring their own children to play.

Some residents say police officiers tell them the safest thing would be not to bring their kids to the park anymore. However, according to Lewiston Police Department Public Information Officer, Lieutenant David St. Pierre, that is not the department’s stance.

“I am not aware of officers advising parents to refrain from bringing their children to the park,” Lt. St. Pierre said. “We at the Lewiston Police strive to make it a safe and enjoyable environment for all.”…

Our community resource officers are reaching out to the leaders in our new Mainer community,” Mayor Bouchard said. “While we are fighting a cultural barrier, outreach to these groups has been successful in the past, and we are hopeful we can make some progress.”…

On any given day, dozens if not hundreds of Somali youth can be found occupying Kennedy Park and the violence is nothing new. Local residents bearing the brunt of these violent mobs are growing frustrated. Maine First Media was told it took police at least 7-8 minutes to arrive on the scene — despite the police station being right across the street from the park.

However, Lt. St. Pierre says they didn’t receive a call until about 8:05 pm and officers were on the scene in 2-3 minutes. And while the station may be across the street, patrolling officers are out making rounds….

The police department is across the street from where the attack took place and NO ONE in the department noticed all those kids running around like wild dogs at that hour??? Then, to add insult to injury, the cops tell the law-abiding residents to stay out of the park!!! I’m sure the police and the mayor, etc., all know what they are doing to combat this type of crime, though. After all, their first response was ‘ you should expect this kind of thing from a city of this size. Wonderful example of municipal leadership. Those residents must be so happy come tax day when they hand over their hard earned money to the city.

F.B.I.’s Urgent Request: Reboot Your Router to Stop Russia-Linked Malware

    By Louis Lucero II

Hoping to thwart a sophisticated malware system linked to Russia that has infected hundreds of thousands of internet routers, the F.B.I. has made an urgent request to anybody with one of the devices: Turn it off, and then turn it back on.

The malware is capable of blocking web traffic, collecting information that passes through home and office routers, and disabling the devices entirely, the bureau announced on Friday.

A global network of hundreds of thousands of routers is already under the control of the Sofacy Group, the Justice Department said last week. That group, which is also known as A.P.T. 28 and Fancy Bear and believed to be directed by Russia’s military intelligence agency, hacked the Democratic National Committee ahead of the 2016 presidential election, according to American and European intelligence agencies.

The F.B.I. has several recommendations for any owner of a small office or home office router. The simplest thing to do is reboot the device, which will temporarily disrupt the malware if it is present. Users are also advised to upgrade the device’s firmware and to select a new secure password. If any remote-management settings are in place, the F.B.I. suggests disabling them.

An analysis by Talos, the threat intelligence division for the tech giant Cisco, estimated that at least 500,000 routers in at least 54 countries had been infected by the malware, which the F.B.I. and cybersecurity researchers are calling VPNFilter. Among the affected networking equipment it found during its research were devices from manufacturers including Linksys, MikroTik, Netgear and TP-Link.

To disrupt the Sofacy network, the Justice Department sought and received permission to seize the web domain toknowall.com, which it said was a critical part of the malware’s “command-and-control infrastructure.” Now that the domain is under F.B.I. control, any attempts by the malware to reinfect a compromised router will be bounced to an F.B.I. server that can record the I.P. address of the affected device.

“This court-ordered seizure will assist in the identification of victim devices and disrupts the ability of these hackers to steal personal and other sensitive information and carry out disruptive cyberattacks,” Scott W. Brady, United States attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania, said in the Justice Department statement.

The analysis by Talos noted significant similarities between VPNFilter’s computer code and “versions of the BlackEnergy malware — which was responsible for multiple large-scale attacks that targeted devices in Ukraine.”

In Talos’s assessment, the threats posed by VPNFilter extend far beyond the personal problems created by stolen passwords: Under the right circumstances, an attack could have a global reach.

Keeping these 12 plants in your home can improve your health — and they’re almost impossible to kill

    • Some houseplants are known to help purify the air.
    • A horticulturist told us that keeping a plant is also linked with therapeutic benefits.
    • There are plenty of low-maintenance plants you can keep that could fit your lifestyle.

Eating plants isn’t the only way to reap their benefits. Science has shown that keeping a simple houseplant can do wonders for your health.

Horticulturist Marc Hachadourian, the director of the Nolen Greenhouses at the New York Botanical Garden, told us that plants benefit both your physical and mental state.

“There is actually a lot of scientific evidence that adding plants to any workspace or living environment actually does help to reduce stress,” Hachadourian said. “There are obviously therapeutic effects of caring for plants and gardening has been shown to decrease blood pressure and reduce stress, so the benefits go beyond […] helping to clean the air and add oxygen.”

Certain plants have been found to specifically clean the air of toxic chemicals like benzene, formaldehyde, and ammonia, according to a clean air report from NASA. Hachadourian noted that although this data exists, whether you can use plants to filter your air totally has yet to be seen.

“There is some benefit,” Hachadourian said. “I think the debate now is how much of that occurs and whether it is enough to make a significant difference in the overall health and quality of the environment you live in.”

Forest bathing is a popular Japanese practice.
    Flickr/Bryan Alexander

Although the air-purifying benefits may not necessarily be extremely significant, Hachadourian has found that the other benefits of nature are. He mentioned forest bathing, the tradition of being in the presence of nature and trees, and it even became part of Japan’s national public health program in 1982, according to The Atlantic. It’s documented health benefits include lower blood pressure and lower stress hormones.

Of course, not everyone has the ability to forest bathe. But, if you’re convinced you need more greenery in your life, Hachadourian recommended getting a houseplant that fits your environment and lifestyle. That way, you can reap all the benefits while actually keeping your plant alive.

Here are some of the most popular houseplants that are especially good for your air — and how to care for them.

HOME KFC Refuses To Be Bullied After Muslim Group Just Demanded They Change Famous Recipe To Meet Absurd Demands

Kentucky Fried Chicken is a highly successful chain restaurant. They have been around for decades. And they won’t be leaving. But the legal dispute they are caught up in is threatening that. More importantly, it is over some of the most absurd nonsense that will make your stomach turn.

A group of Muslim believers is campaigning for Kentucky Fried Chicken to shut down their businesses if they do not serve halal food. It is a movement that is gaining a lot of support in New Zealand all thanks to a Facebook and social media campaign. They have gained over 2,000 likes in a little over a month and their support continues to grow.

    The US Herald reported,

“The movement is being led by Syeda Fouzia, who said the process of delivering halal food ‘is not that difficult.’ ‘We’ve had some criticism, but having halal certification will only mean more people will be able to eat at KFC. It won’t affect non-Muslims,’ UK-born Ms. Fouzia told reporters.

However what seems to be missing in all of this is KFC’s iconic branding within the fast food industry and whether it might actually affect its business model around the world, in that the entire concept of KFC is its branding persona of it’s carefully guarded “top-secret” original recipe which includes a blend of 11 herbs and spices.

However, Ms. Fouzia has gained a lot of support online asking why the simple transition can’t be made to include “halal KFC?” “Just like to point out KFC is a multi-national fast food corporation, it has about as much cultural bearing on New Zealander’s way of life as Tacobell,” one person said.

But not everyone was having it from the bully Muslims:

Fortunately, KFC has no intention of caving in to the demands of these pushy Muslims. ‘We appreciate their request, however, the issues relating to us being able to certify halal product for customers remain,’ said a KFC a spokesperson. ‘We have no plans to re-introduce halal in New Zealand.’ Well, there you have it. Nice job KFC!”

Halal meat is food that is permissible to eat under Islamic law. Much like kosher meals for Jewish people, halal is a dietary restriction that many Muslim believers abide by. While there is no problem for anyone to eat like this, the problem that is arising is where they are trying to force Kentucky Fried Chicken to abide by their religious dietary restrictions.

    Stuff.co reported,

“However, David Wardly – one of the staunch online critics of her campaign – said halal certification was a way for Muslims to “ram their religion” into New Zealand culture. The 82-year-old said he did not know any Kiwi Muslims, but he feared the halal certificate was a way to introduce the Shariah law in to New Zealand. The Englishman said Islamic practices only had a place in Muslim countries.

“We’ll enjoy your culture, your music, your customs and your food in your country. Not here” Many online opponents also criticised the halal method for being cruel. But according to the Federation of Islamic Associations of New Zealand (FIANZ), the country’s commercial halal practices were in line with the Animal Welfare Code.

That meant it was compulsory for all animals to be stunned unconscious before they could be slaughtered. President of FIANZ Hazim Arafeh said the Animal Welfare Code and the halal method worked together “perfectly”.

“In Islam an animal must not suffer or be sacrificed in front of other animals.” He said there was no hidden radical agenda. “Halal certification is not about bringing Sharia law in to New Zealand, it [halal certification] exists because New Zealand wants to export to Muslim countries.”

Restaurant Brands – the company that owned KFC in New Zealand – had earlier said a halal trial was carried out in 2001, but complexities in supply chain led to the idea being dropped. Marketing general manager Geraldine Oldham said the fast food chain’s position had not changed and at this stage they had no plans to re-introduce halal options in New Zealand.

There were 46,000 Muslims living in New Zealand in the 2013 census, a 28 percent increase since 2006. Halal is an Islamic term meaning permissible. In the dietary context it referred to meat from animals and poultry that has been slaughtered using a sharp knife and specially-trained slaughtermen who recite a special prayer.”

If someone wants to eat halal meat that is fine but they can’t force private businesses to offer food. They are a private business and as such, they have a right to serve whatever type of food they want according to the demand they have. Clearly, the demand for halal food is not that high otherwise they would have already served it.

    Share if you agree

Share if you believe that private businesses should not be mandated to serve certain foods if they don’t want to……

30 minutes of terror: How the Santa Fe High School shooting unfolded

SANTA FE — Students were just starting their day. It was first period art class.

Then it became a war zone.

For 30 minutes, authorities say Santa Fe High School was under siege by a teenage gunman armed with a shotgun and .38 caliber revolver. In the end, 10 were left dead and 13 others were wounded.

REMEMBER THEIR NAMES: What we’ve learned about the Santa Fe victims

Dimitrios Pagourtzis carried out Friday’s deadly rampage entirely within the art complex at the high school, barricading himself inside from the fusillade of police officers’ bullets that followed him there, Galveston County Judge Mark Henry said.

PHOTOS: These are the victims of the Santa Fe school shooting

Law enforcement received the first calls at 7:32 a.m., according to an affidavit filed in Galveston County court Friday evening.

The art complex is made up of four rooms, each interconnected by interior hallways. Armed with a shotgun and .38 handgun, Pagourtzis walked in there Friday morning and began shooting students and teachers, said Henry, the county’s top administrator.

All of the injuries and deaths occurred within the art complex, he said. Henry said he didn’t know how many total students were in that part of the school when the shooting began.

“It’s tragic,” Henry said. “I don’t know how you make any sense of this.”

Zachary Muehe, a sophomore at the school of roughly 1,400 students, was in art class when he heard three loud booms.

Muehe told The New York Times that he recognized Pagourtzis from the school’s football team — then saw he was holding a shotgun.

“It was crazy watching him shoot and then pump. I remember seeing the shrapnel from the tables, whatever he hit. I remember seeing the shrapnel go past my face,” he told the Times.

As he ran from the classroom, he told the newspaper he looked back and saw students lying on the ground.

The first one to confront Pagourtzis was the school’s police officer John Barnes, who tried entering the art complex looking for the shooter, he said.

Santa Fe, Texas, school shooting: what we know?

On Friday morning, at least one gunman opened fire at Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe, Texas. Ten people are dead, and 10 others have been wounded, Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) said Friday.

At least one suspect is in custody, identified as 17-year-old Dimitrios Pagourtzis. He has been charged with capital murder and aggravated assault of a police officer.

Two other people are being questioned by police, according to Abbott. Explosive devices were also discovered on the high school campus and surrounding area, according to law enforcement officials.

The shooting comes after months of activism in the US over guns and gun violence, led by the survivors of the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, that killed 17 people in February.

”I was thinking it was going to happen eventually, it’s been happening everywhere,” Paige Curry, a Santa Fe high school student told a local Houston station. “I was ready to run out but my teacher told me to hide instead, so that’s what I did.”

Here’s what we know and what we don’t so far about the shooting.

    What we know

    Javier Zarracina/Vox

    • Ten people have been killed, and another 10 people have been wounded, Abbott said Friday at a press conference.
    • The fatalities “include students and some adult staff as well,” said Ed Gonzalez, Harris County sheriff, said at a press conference just before noon Eastern time Friday.
    • At least six people have been transported to hospitals, including one ISD police officer, said Santa Fe ISD police chief Walter Braun.
    • At least three people are being treated at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, according to David Marshall, chief nursing and patient services officer: one adult male with a gunshot wound to the arm; an adult female with a gunshot wound to the leg; and a male under the age of 18, also with a gunshot wound to leg.
    • The suspect, who is in custody, suspect has been identified as 17-year-old Dimitrios Pagourtzis, The New York Times, CNN, NBC News, and CBS News reported. He is being questioned by police.
    • Students told CNN and NBC News that Pagourtzis attended Santa Fe high school, where he carried out the massacre.

    • Pagourtzis has been charged with capital murder charges and aggravated assault of a police officer, KHOU reports.
    • Two other people are being questioned by police, according to Abbott. One person was at the scene, and law enforcement are trying to figure out if he may have had some involvement in the crime. Abbott said police are questioning another person who may have information about the crime.
    • At least two weapons were confirmed used in the attack: a shotgun and a .38 revolver. Law enforcement believe that both of those weapons were obtained by the shooter from his father, who legally owned these firearms, according to Abbott.
    • Explosive devices have reportedly been found on campus and the surrounding area, according to Santa Fe ISD police. Officials warned community members to be on alert.

    • Police have uncovered different kinds of explosive devices, including a CO2 device and a Molotov cocktail, Abbott said.
    • Law enforcement have warrants out to search two residences, but are working cautiously because of the potential for explosive devices, Abbott said.
    • Witnesses said that the shooting began between 7:30 and 7:45 am CST, in an art class, according to KTRK.
    • According to law enforcement officials, at least two armed officers were on campus, as outlined in the school’s safety plan. School district ISD officers were able to confront the shooter, Abbott said. The school is also equipped with cameras, which will allow law enforcement to piece together how the crime unfolded.
    • On Facebook, the school district said Friday morning, “the situation is active but has been contained.”
